Sydney’s top junior tennis stars have had a red hot start to the year, with two players representing Australia on the international stage.
Anastasia Berezov and Rinky Hijikata have played crucial roles with the Australian World Junior Tennis and Junior Davis Cup teams respectively.
Berezov was part of the Australian team that won their qualifying event in Bangkok to advance to the World Junior Tennis Finals in the Czech Republic in August.
Hijikata, a member of the NSW National Academy, was part of the Junior Davis Cup squad that traveled to India for their qualifying event. The Australian boys narrowly lost the final to Japan, going down 2-1 with Hijikata winning his singles rubber, but qualified for the finals in Hungary later this year by virtue of a top four finish.
