Information for Clubs & Coaches
Tennis NSW supports clubs and coaches to deliver inclusive Blind & Low Vision (BLV) tennis experiences by providing practical information, resources and connections.
Integrating BLV Tennis into your Club Programs
Clubs can make BLV Tennis part of their regular programming without needing separate facilities or large time commitments. Integrating BLV Tennis in this way ensures the sport is inclusive, sustainable, and part of the broader club community rather than a standalone program.
- Schedule regular sessions: Integrate BLV tennis into existing junior, social, or all‑abilities programs. Even a 30–60 minute weekly or fortnightly session can provide consistency for players.
- Shared courts: BLV sessions can run alongside standard tennis programs by using separate courts or alternating court time during quieter periods.
- Inclusive group lessons: Mix BLV players with sighted beginners in beginner clinics, using modified rules and equipment where necessary.
- Volunteer or buddy support: Pair new BLV participants with experienced players or volunteers to provide extra guidance and confidence on court.
- Link with talent pathways: Connect club sessions to BLV programs, events, and classification opportunities to allow players to progress seamlessly from recreational play to competitive opportunities.
