17 July 2020 | Tennis NSW

The Grassroots Sport Fund will provide a one-off grant of up to $1,000 to eligible local clubs and associations across the State to assist them when community sport resumes from 1 July 2020. The Fund will be administered by the Office of Sport through Tennis NSW who will be supported to assess the eligibility of affiliated clubs and associations and make payments to eligible clubs and associations.

The Fund will assist organisations with fixed costs incurred between March and June 2020, where they have not already received financial assistance or relief from local, state or Commonwealth governments or others. Payments to local clubs and associations can be used for the fixed costs such as insurances, power, telephone and internet, fixed vehicle or equipment costs (lease, registration), and other base operating costs including affiliation fees, EFTPOS and banking fees and IT support arrangements and essential equipment.

What exactly is the Grassroots Sport Fund?

It’s your opportunity to claim up to $1,000 for either losses or expenses incurred during the months of March, April, May & June.

Who is eligible?

If you were a Tennis NSW affiliated club, venue or coaching business before 11 June 2020, possess an ABN, ACN or Incorporation Number and you have fulfilled all of your affiliation requirements including your registered player list for the 19/20 year, then you should be eligible to claim your $1,000.

What can you claim against?

If you can demonstrate reasonably a loss of income over those months or expenses incurred up to and over the value of $1,000 then you can claim the full amount. Loss of revenue would include any membership fees you would have collected, competition fees or coaching revenue.

From an expense perspective, you can also list your affiliation fees, marketing or promotional costs or any additional equipment of hygiene products that you may have purchased during this time. You are not required to submit any receipts in your application but should be ready to prove these losses or expenses if required.
