That’s a wrap on the City of Playford Tennis International, with the sun prevailing for an amazing day finals matches!
Rinky Hijikata (NSW) and Emerson Jones (QLD) are the 2025 City of Playford Tennis International champions after taking out the singles titles in Elizabeth East, South Australia today.
17-year-old Emerson Jones started off strong and remained steady under pressure to seal the Women’s Singles Champion title.
Jones defeated fellow Aussie and defending champion Maddison Inglis 6-4 6-4 in just under 1.5 hours, securing her third ITF singles title.
No.2 seed and defending champion Rinky Hijikata fought for 2.5 hours to secure his 6-0 6-7(8) 6-4 against fellow Aussie Dane Sweeny.
Hijikata came out firing, dominating the opening set 6–0. The momentum shifted as Sweeny lifted his level in a tightly contested second set, however Rinky regained control when it mattered most, securing a decisive late break and closing out with the win.
An incredible week of elite level tennis was on display at the 2025 City of Playford Tennis International.
