GDTA Orange Ball Association Match Play

League details

Season dates 2023, times and venue;
  • Key Info
    • Nominations Open: Thursday, 16th March
    • Nominations Close: Monday, 17 April
    • Start Date: Saturday, 6 May
    • Byes: Saturday 10 June, 15 July, 22 July
    • Rounds: 14
    • Final Round: Saturday, 26 August
  • Matches will be played using a home and away fixture
  • The final round matches will ideally take place at a singular location to create a carnival atmosphere and allow for presentations (Venue TBC)
Team make up and match formats
  • Teams will be made up of three players each week
  • Each player will play one singles match and two doubles matches each week
  • Each round will be a first to 4 game set – no advantage, no tiebreak
Court set up and balls
  • All matches will be played using Orange Balls
  • Courts will be set up to modify the size of the court as per Orange Ball guidelines
  • Each club is required to set up courts using drop down lines
Requirement of clubs
  • Set up courts
  • Ensure scores are entered on League Manager
Support from parents
  • Parents are asked to attend each match and support with court set up, on court scoring and score entry through League Manager
  • Each team is required to have one appointed Team Manager
Other Cost and value
  • Cost for a team entry into GDTA Tennis Hot Shots Match Play is;
    • Winter Fee – $40 per team
Team Nomination 
  • A Tennis Club affiliated with Tennis SA may nominate a team to compete within the GDTA Orange Ball Competition
  • Nominations shall be submitted online via League Manager
  • The Nomination will require a nominating club to name in Order of Merit the players which it proposes to play in its team
  • Players nominated will be required to register and activate their own Universal Tennis Rating (UTR)
  • Clubs can no longer create a profile. A profile must be created by a player or parent/caregiver
  • Please make sure both the club coach and junior coordinator have agreed that the team is at an appropriate level
  • Clubs will receive an invoice once teams are final
