Australian Sara Tomic has moved through to the main draw of the 2017 Honeycomb.Design Clare Valley Tennis International after defeating American Alexandra Stevenson 7-6 (7) 6-1 in front of a strong crowd in Clare yesterday.

Tomic will be joined by fellow Aussie Seonie Medez who had an upset win over qualifying top seed Zuzana Zlochova 6-1 6-4.

Today will see the start of the main draw with Aussie youngster Kimberley Birrell in action against Sherazad Reix from France at 10am on Centre Court. Fellow Aussie Genevieve Lordbergs will start her campaign following Birrell on Center Court when she takes on Akiko Omae from Japan.

Tournament number one seed Beatriz Haddad Maia makes her debut appearance in Clare when she takes on Brittan Freya Christie first up on court 2 while fourth seeded American Kristie Ahn comes up against Ayano Shimizu from Japan first up on court 3.

The Honeycomb.Design Clare Valley Tennis International is part of the Australian Pro Tour, a series of professional tennis events that bridge junior events and the ATP/WTA Tour, providing an opportunity for players to earn their first world ranking points.
