League details

Season dates, times and venue;
  • Played over six to eight Saturday morning’s split into two seasons in Term 4 and Term 1
  • Term 4 Dates (no matches on November 10 – Pageant Day)
    • Nominations Open: August 16
    • Nominations Close: September 16
    • Start Date: October 20
    • Final Round: December 15
  • Term 1 Dates (no matches on March 9)
    • Nominations Open: December 10
    • Nominations Close: February 8
    • Start Date: February 16
    • Final Round: March 30
  • Matches will be played using a home and away fixture
  • Matches are played from 10:45am
  • The first and final round matches will ideally take place at a singular location to create a carnival atmosphere and allow for presentations on the final round (Venue TBC)
Team make up and match formats
  • Teams will be made up of three players each week
  • Each player will play one singles match and two doubles matches each week
  • Each round will be a first to 4 game set (FAST4 format)
  • Matches will be timed at 20 minutes per match regardless of the score
Court set up and balls
  • All matches will be played using Orange Balls
  • Courts will be set up to modify the size of the court as per Orange Ball guidelines
  • Each club is required to set up courts using drop down lines
Requirement of clubs
  • Set up courts
  • Ensure scores are entered on League Manager
Support from parents
  • Parents are asked to attend each match and support with court set up, on court scoring and score entry through League Manager
  • Each team is required to have one appointed Team Manager
Team Nomination 
  • A Tennis Club affiliated with Tennis SA may nominate a team(s) to compete within the SDTA Orange Ball Competition
  • Nominations shall be submitted online via League Manager and paper nomination (link below) – League Manager
  • Online Team Nomination Instructions
  • The Nomination will require a nominating club to name in Order of Merit the players which it proposes to play in its team
  • Nominations must be submitted by September 16
  • Please make sure both the club coach and junior coordinator have agreed that the team is at an appropriate level
