Day 2 of the City of Playford Tennis International comes to a close, with all men’s and women’s qualifying matches now complete and the men’s main draw action just starting to heat up.

In the men’s qualifying finals, the top three qualifying seeds – Blaise Bicknell (JAM), Takuya Kumasaka (JPN) and Tung-Li Wu (TPE) have secured their spot in the main draw. Finn Bass (GBR) also progressed, alongside Ryuki Matsuda (JPN) and Carl Emil Overbeck (DEN).

On the women’s side, Arina Varaksina, Chengyiyi Yuan (CHN) and Valentina Ivanov (NZL) continued their strong run to qualify, joined by the two top seeds Arina Bulatova and Monique Barry (NZL). Australians Sarah Rokusek, Alexandra Osborne and Belle Thompson also impressed to book their spots in the main draw.

The men’s main draw kicked off today with four matches taking place. Japan’s Rio Noguchi and Hiroki Moriya both won in straight sets, alongside Aussies Philip Sekulic and Bernard Tomic who also moved through to the next round.

You do not want to miss the action on Day 3! Play kicks off from 10:00am with South Aussies Alex Bolt and Li Tu ready to play on home soil plus No.2 seed Rinky Hijikata eager to defend his title. Rising star Tahlia Kokkinis (AUS) is one to watch tomorrow, alongside fellow Aussie Alexandra Osborne.
