16 December 2020 | Tennis SA

The
inaugural South Australian Teams Challenge was held in Adelaide this
week with 36 players from around the state taking part in the two day event.

Tennis
SA, in conjunction with West Lakes Tennis Club, hosted the brand new event from
Monday 14 to Tuesday 15 December 2020.

Representative
teams from Regional South Australia and Metropolitan South Australia
took on each other in 13/u, 15/u and 17/u age groups, with Regional
South Australia winning each of the three age groups along with the overall
teams championship.

The individual event utilised Universal
Tennis Ratings (UTR) to provide further competitive play opportunities for
participants.

“We are thrilled to have hosted the South Australian Teams Challenge for representative players from around the state,” Tennis SA Competitions Lead, Luke Doughty said.

“Whilst
the COVID pandemic prevented our usual pathway to a national level, this event
has been a great success, presenting new opportunities for players from both
regional and metropolitan South Australia.

“Our
congratulations to team champions Regional South Australia and to all of the
players who have been a part of the event. A sincere thank you must also go to
the West Lakes Tennis Club for their generous hospitality, time and efforts.”
