Cobdogla Primary School (Cobdogla, SA) and Prince Alfred College (Kent Town, SA) have been named the 2019 South Australian ANZ Tennis Hot Shots school state champions, after winning their respective competitions at the Tennis SA Clay Courts.

The events are the culmination of 34 ANZ Tennis Hot Shots District School Carnivals held around the state throughout 2019, with the two schools receiving an Adelaide International experience in January 2020.

Designed to provide a pathway for students to participate in inter school sport, the ANZ Tennis Hot Shots School Carnivals provide the opportunity for students of all abilities to play with their school friends and meet other students from surrounding schools.

With a round robin style draw, the schools play doubles matches with simple scoring and time keeping to ensure all students are actively able to participate on the day.

Tennis SA CEO Debbie Sterrey congratulated all involved in the state finals.

“We congratulate Cobdogla Primary School, Prince Alfred College and each of the schools, teachers and parents involved in the ANZ Tennis Hot Shots School State Finals over the last two days,” Sterrey said.

“These events provide school children with a fantastic introduction to our ANZ Tennis Hot Shots program, utilising smaller courts, lighter racquets and low compression tennis balls.

“We look forward to seeing Cobdogla Primary School and Prince Alfred College at the brand-new Adelaide International in January.”
