After seven years at the helm, Tennis SA Chief Executive Officer Steven Baldas announced today he has resigned from the role to join the South Australian Cricket Association.

“It has been a privilege to have served the South Australian tennis community over the past seven years,” Baldas said.

“I would sincerely like to thank our Tennis SA Board and staff, along with all of the clubs, associations and members who I have met along the way. It has been an honour and I will be forever grateful to have had this opportunity.

“This role has given me the chance to give back to a sport that I love so much and whilst I will be extremely sad to leave the tennis family, I am excited to see what the future holds in a new role, in a new sport.”

During his time at Tennis SA, Baldas has been instrumental in the successful lease negotiations for the Memorial Drive land, the continuing redevelopment of the Memorial Drive Tennis Centre and the return of world-class tennis to Adelaide, three key goals he set out to achieve at the beginning of his tenure.

Baldas’ lifetime involvement in the sport has included competing on the international junior, US collegiate and professional tennis tours.  He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance (University of Georgia, USA) and Master’s Degree in Business Administration (University of Adelaide) which led him to a 13-year professional career in the financial services sector, before commencing with Tennis SA in 2012.

Tennis SA President Kent Thiele thanked Baldas for his contribution to the sport.

“Steve is a valued member of our tennis family here in South Australia.

“Steve has played an integral role in the growth of the Tennis SA team and the development of staff members, ensuring Tennis SA has been able to support the sport at all levels across the state.

“Steve’s key achievements have also included an increase in member registrations and grassroots servicing, the redevelopment of the Memorial Drive facility and the subsequent return of international tennis to Memorial Drive.

“We will of course be sad to see Steve go, but we understand that this is a wonderful opportunity and wish him all the very best in his new role.”

Baldas’ final day at Tennis SA will be Friday 27 September.

Applications are open to select a new Chief Executive Officer until Sunday 22 September 2019 at 11:00pm (AEST).
