On Friday 30 March saw the finals of the 10/U Green Ball State League competition for Term 1 with the Boys playing at Peake Gardens and the girls playing at Millswood Tennis Centre.

This was the second term that the Green Ball State League ran following the Term 4 pilot. A second division in the boys was added, which saw an uplift in team numbers and more opportunities for our talented 9 and 10 year olds.

The match format for the season has been;

  • 2 player teams
  • FAST4 Format
  • A double, single and reverse singles played
  • Home and away fixture
  • Finals played at a central venue to allow for presentations

The finals format involved all teams who played off for their final placing at the one venue to create atmosphere and allowed for presentations after the matches.

In the boys Second Division, top of the table Henley South played against Denman Light Blue. Both teams were going into the Grand Final with three wins and two loses during the Term 1 season. Henley South got off to a great start winning both singles lead by Charlie Grainger and Peter Atsikbasis, but in the doubles Denman hit back with a close 5-4 win to keep their final chances alive. It was a close encounter in the reverse singles with both matches staying close, but Henley South were too strong in the end winning both reverse singles and claiming the title for Division 2.

In the boys Division One, the undefeated Seacliff played Tea Tree Gully in the Grand Final. Seacliff got off to a strong start winning both the opening singles 7-3 and a close 6-5, lead by Tyce Lush and Harry Reidford. They kept that going, winning the doubles and sealing victory for Seacliff and kept their Term 1 Season undefeated.

In the girls competition, an undefeated Seacliff played off against ETKG in the Grand Final. Seacliff were very dominant winning all rubbers and staying undefeated for the season lead by Olivia Sun and Christina Bennett. Clinching the Girls Grand Final and retaining the title from Term 4 and now into Term 1.

Congratulations to all Grand Final winners and well done to all teams that participated in the 10/U Green Ball State League for Term 1.
