Day 6 at the Port Pirie Come See Change Tennis International was completed with singles finalists decided and new doubles champions crowned.

Amber Marshall (SA) and Valentina Ivanov (NZL) are the Port Pirie Come See Change Tennis International Doubles Champions after defeating the combination of Patricia Boentgen (GER) and Lisa Mays (NSW) in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2. The match commenced in hot, sunny conditions in front of an enthusiastic crowd. After a close tussle in the first set, the Marshall/Ivanov team showed that they were a class above the German/Australian combination who were playing in their first Pro Tour final, triumphing 7-5, 6-2. All players were delighted to make this final.

Earlier in the day, No.2 seed Lulu Sun (SUI) ended the amazing run of Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz (SA) winning 6-4, 6-0. Early on the SA youngster looked as though she would trouble the accomplished Swiss, but Sun’s consistent shot making and calm composure ensured that the younger of the two players was unable to keep up the quality of tennis displayed earlier in the match.

In the second semifinal, number 1 seed Jennifer Elie (USA) continued on her winning way against Bojana Marinkov (NSW), completing an  dominant 6-1 6-0 win in just 49 minutes.

With neither player having dropped a set this tournament, today’s final certainly has the makings for a very close, high standard contest and a fitting conclusion to this event.
