The ANZ Tennis Hot Shots Playford and Para Districts Schools Competition was held over 40 Red Ball courts at the Playford City Tennis Centre on Tuesday 8 May.

160 Year 3 and 4 students from Elizabeth North Primary School, Elizabeth South Primary School, Karrendi Primary School, St Thomas More School and St Columba College took to the court for a day of ANZ Tennis Hot Shots matches, with a focus on encouraging tennis participation, growing friendships and giving students the opportunity to represent their school in a team environment.

All players received a participation certificate and prize, with St Columba College finishing as the winners and St Thomas More School the runners up. Special prizes were also awarded to Paynton, Ashlyn, Kiara and Angath for the excellent sportsmanship they displayed throughout the day.

The ANZ Tennis Hot Shots Playford and Para District Schools Competition is a part of Tennis SA’s Primary Schools Competition, held in conjunction with School Sport South Australia.

The competition offers a pathway for students to participate in tennis during primary school, using modified equipment, numeric scoring and mixed gendered teams.

The competition progresses from District Days, through to the State City Championship with the winner being invited to participate in a showcase at the World Tennis Challenge in January.
