Day 9 was singles finals day, with Jason Kubler (Qld) and Zoe Hives (Vic) crowned the inaugural City of Playford Tennis International singles champions.
Qualifier Kubler kicked off the action on Centre Court and was on song right from the very start of the match. Kubler quickly gained control and then raced to a 6-4 6-2 victory over Canadian Brayden Schnur.
Hives started strongly in the women’s final, taking the first set 6-4 against Alexandra Bozovic (NSW). Hives found herself in the box seat to take the second set, however her body began to falter and she found herself in an epic three set battle. After two hours and 41 minutes, Hives claimed the title 6-4 5-7 7-6(4).
