Day 8 at the City of Playford Tennis International has been a great day for the Aussies, with three moving through to tomorrow’s singles finals.

Zoe Hives (Vic) once again brought her A-game with a 6-1 6-4 victory over the last remaining seed in the draw, [6] Marie Bouzkova (CZE). Meanwhile, Alexandra Bozovic (NSW) moved in to the final after Jessika Ponchet (FRA) was forced to retire at 4-1 in the first set.

Qualifier Jason Kubler (Qld) will fly the Australian flag in the men’s final after he defeated the big serving American, Reilly Opelka 7-6(3) 6-3. Brayden Schnur (CAN) then secured a place in the final with a 6-3 7-6(3) victory over Evan King (USA).

This afternoon, Mackenzie McDonald and Tommy Paul (USA) were crowned the City of Playford Tennis International Men’s Doubles Champions following a close 7-6(4) 6-4 victory over wildcards Maverick Banes/Jason Kubler (Qld).

Day 9 is singles finals day. The day is set to open with the WTC City of Playford Kids Tennis Day, including a special visit from the Bryan Brothers. Kubler and Schnur will then open Centre Court at 11.00 am, with Hives and Bozovic to follow, not before 12.30 pm.
