
Singles qualifying and first round men’s doubles matches have been completed on Day 3 at the City of Playford Tennis International.
[4] Marinko Matosevic (Vic) had a relatively straight forward win over Christopher O’Connell (NSW) 6-4 6-0, Hugo Grenier (FRA) defeated Andrew Harris (Vic) 7-6(3) 6-3, [6] Jason Kubler (Qld) overcame [2] Dayne Kelly (Vic) 7-6(1) 6-4 and [4] Maverick Banes (Qld) defeated Sebastian Korda (USA) 6-3 6-4, making their way through to the main draw.
Top seed Jennifer Elie (USA) defeated Tina Smith (Qld) 6-1 6-3, [2] Allie Kiick (USA) overcame [13] Alicia Smith (Qld) 6-2 6-0 and in the longest match of the day [7] Marta Kostyuk (UKR) took a 6-2 4-6 6-2 win over [15] Elysia Bolton (NSW) to book their place in the main draw.
Day 3’s schedule includes the first round of men’s main draw singles matches, along with the first round of women’s doubles.
[3] Jessica Moore (WA)/Lin Zhu (CHN) will open proceedings against Alison Bai (ACT)/Zoe Hives (Vic) on Centre Court, followed by the all-Australian wildcard match of Max Purcell (NSW) and Omar Jasika (Vic). Number one seed Daniil Medvedev (RUS) will take on Matosevic in the third match, with Marc Polmans (Vic) against second seed Bjorn Fratangelo (USA) to follow. South Australia’s Alex Bolt will make his City of Playford Tennis International singles debut in the final match on Centre Court against Arthur De Greef (BEL).
