Kingswood ladies have dealt The Drive their first loss for the season with a four rubbers to two win. Kingswood’s Yasmin Glazbrook had her best win of the season when she overcame Melissa Beadman at number two single, Glazbrooks win was backed up with a super impressive win by Sister Tiana Glazbrook at number three single, Glazbrook beat young Drive player Alana Repanich in straight sets.

Seaside and Goodwood had a tight match at Seaside with some top level tennis played throughout the afternoon. Selina Turulja got Seaside off to a strong start with a straight set win over Tayla Whitehouse at top single. Goodwoods Leonora Radocaj got them back in the game with a solid win over youngster Maggie Pearce while Seaside’s Tully Richter got over the line in straight sets against Erica Williams. Richter then paired with Pearce who held off Radocaj and Williams in straight sets to hand Seaside the win by six games and one set.

Flagstaff Hill hit the board with its first win for the season against Trinity Gardens. Sophia Fry set the tone for the day with a three set win over Jieyi Chen at number one single and from there Flagstaff Hill held strong at number three and four with Alana Browne and Ebony Harper winning their respective matches after Cydney Crumbie was forced to retire. With Flagstaff Hill one rubber away from victory it was Fry who paired with Browne against Chen and Petrov winning in a tight three set battle.

In the men’s competition Broadview had their first victory against an impressive Glenlea side five rubber to one. Broadview’s Martin Richards was too good for Glenlea youngster Heath Johnston at number two single and from there Broadview continued to stay on top. Glenlea’s Sam May was able to get his team on the board with a good win over Corey Decandia.

Tea Tree Gully continued their consistent form when they came up against a competitive Collingrove side. Tea Tree Gully’s Lawrence Bataljin defeated Oliver Douglas in straight sets at number one pushing him into the leading position for the player of the year award. Steve Sando also won for his team at number two, while Collingroves Patrick Douglas gave his team hope when he defeated Steve Clarke at number four, Collingrove were unable to win both doubles handing Tea Tree Gully the win four rubbers to two.

Kingswood ran away with a win against The Drive who were missing their number one player in Stefan Norodom. Early singles rubbers were tightly contested between Kingswood’s Josh Laka defeating Jonathan Norodom 6-3 7-6 at one and The Drive’s Sebastian Flock defeating Sean Van Rensburg at two in straight sets. Kingswood’s Todd McLean extended the lead with a three set win against Theodore Karahalios at number three. Kingswood were then able to win rubber four and five giving them a four rubbers to two win.

Trinity Gardens and Seaside fought out a tight match with Trinity Gardens not allowing Seaside to achieve their first victory for the season winning on games after rubbers and sets were even. Trinity Gardens veteran Andrew Tavella defeated David Abfalter at number one single however Seaside’s Doni Gashi was able to push it to the doubles with a strong singles win over Daniel Silvestri. Trinity did enough to win on games after Seaside pushed Trinity Gardens in the doubles winning both in tight three sets.
