The 2017-18 State Budget has just released major funding packages that will provide a significant boost to grassroots sporting clubs and participation in sport for South Australians.

A major $20 million grant funding initiative will help sporting clubs establish or replace playing surfaces, as part of a drive to increase participation in grassroots sports. The funding will be made available over two years and will assist sports using different surfaces including hardcourt surfaces, such as basketball, volleyball, netball and tennis.

Plus a major funding package of $19.5 million has been announced to increase women’s participation in sport and support South Australia’s Olympic athletes. In particular the Female Facilities Fund, which will gain an additional $14 million over two years to continue the Government’s support for sport and recreation organisations implementing projects to address the barriers to female participation.

“This is a fantastic result for tennis in South Australia and will go a long way to achieve important tennis club upgrades as well as driving greater female participation in our sport” said Tennis SA CEO, Steve Baldas.
