Junior State League – Results

Trinity Gardens and Peake Gardens had a tight fought battle in round three of the Boys Junior State League with Peake Gardens sneaking away with their first win of the season, four rubbers to two.

Peake Garden’s number one Tom Downey kicked the night off with a win for Peake Gardens, winning 6-2 against Trinity’s Zac Nurton. Peake Gardens’ Seth Henderson and Nathan Lean both held on to win their respective singles matches in tie-breaks which proved to be the difference in the outcome of the match.

Coromandel Valley remain undefeated as they overcame Stirling five rubbers to one. At number one and new inclusion to Coromandel’s side, Brock Meuris defeated Jasper Benson 6-1. Singles following were also won by Brock’s team mates handing them the win before entering doubles. Stirling still continued to fight not allowing Coromandel to walk away with the 10 points with David Pienaar and Matt Casey winning the number two doubles 7-5.

Glenunga continued their form when they came up against home team Tea Tree Gully, taking a four rubbers to two win. Dale Nixon continued his form at number one winning his third consecutive singles match for the season against Glenunga’s David Wang 6-3. Glenunga’s Alex Carroll held off Tea Tree Gully’s Brayden Doherty at number two winning 6-4.

With singles split at two rubbers each, Glenunga were able to hold on to both doubles winning the match. Glenunga’s David Wang and Alex Caroll were able to hold off a determined Dale Nixon and Brayden Doherty in a tie-break.

Goodwood looked to have the strongest list of the round coming out on top defeating Seaside six rubbers to none. Goodwood’s Josh Laka set the scene for the night with a 6-3 win over Seaside’s Edward Vo at number one single and from there Goodwood continued to dominate with strong performances from Stefan Bianchet and Terry Karahalios at Two and Three.

In the Girl’s competition, Seaside had a six rubber to none win over Trinity Gardens putting them back in the winner’s circle, Seasides new inclusion Maggie Pearce defeated Trinity’s also new inclusion Jasmine Adams at number one 6-3 while Seaside’s Tully Richter also had a comfortable win against Trinity’s Yasmin Bennett 6-2.

Goodwood also had a six rubbers to none win over Hahndorf. Goodwood look to be the team to beat, as they continue to win without dropping a set. Goodwood’s Nikki Milner, Marit Gillam and Erica Williams all won their respective singles 6-0. This form was also taken into doubles with both Goodwood’s doubles pairings winning 6-2.

Happy Valley travelled out to Beaumont winning five rubbers to one, putting Happy Valley second on the ladder. Beaumont’s Annika Tobin put in her best effort winning at number two defeating Cydney Crumbie 6-3, but Happy Valley didn’t allow Beaumont to win another set following with Happy Valley’s number three Ebony Harper winning 6-0 and number four Chenoa Norris winning 6-4 in their respective singles matches. This was also taken into the doubles with both rubbers won by Happy valley.
