Men’s and Women’s State League – Results

Goodwood and Denman have fought out a tight battle in round two of the Ladies State League season with Goodwood sneaking away with a tight win on sets after rubbers were locked at three all. Denman’s number one Casey Jackson won a tough three setter against Brooke Milner taking out the third 6-2. Goodwood’s Evana Bowell and Nikki Milner both proved too strong in their respective singles matches with straight sets wins. Nikki Milner and Bowell combined to clinch the tie when they overcame Elizna Boshoff and Jacqui Scott in straight sets.

Memorial Drive ladies proved too strong for Glenlea with a five rubber to one win. The Drive’s Mel Clayton and Golden Grove’s Ivana Draskovic battled through a tough match with Clayton winning in two tight sets. Memorial Drive continued their dominance throughout the tie to highlight their position as competition favourites at this stage.

Glenlea had a solid four rubbers to two win over a plucky Kingswood with Kingswood’s Natasha Russell fighting hard to keep her team in the mix by winning her match at number one single over Tayla Whitehouse in three sets. Olivia Ley and Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz sealed the win for Glenlea when they overcame Russell and Tiana Glazbrook in the doubles.

Seaside had an impressive win over Trinity Gardens by four rubbers to two. Trinity Gardens number one Jovana Petrov got her team off to a good start with a three set win over Tahlia Van Der Eerden before Seaside hit back with a strong win by Maggie Pearce at second single where she has a comfortable victory over Stefana Petrov. Van Der Eerden and Pearce then combined to clinch the win with a straight sets win over Jovana Petrov and Jieyi Chen.

In the Men’s competition Trinity Gardens won a tight matches over Seaside with the match being decided on sets after rubbers were three all. Seasides Asyskal Azhar started off with a great win at top single when he took down Li Tu in two sets. Trinity responded with singles wins to Andrew Tavella and Charlie Nicholas. The match went down to the doubles where Trinity’s Scott Hughes and young gun Nicholas paired to beat Asyraf Azhar and Sam May to take out a close tie.

Collingrove continued their impressive start to the season with a four rubbers to two win over Tea Tree Gully. Tea Tree Gully’s Tyson Devine had a great win at top single over Oliver Douglas in three sets before Collingrove levelled with Matt Teivans having a straight sets win over young gun Dale Nixon. Teivans and Douglas then paired to clinch the tie with a straight sets win over Steve Clarke and Nixon.

Glenlea proved too strong for Kingswood, winning five rubbers to one. Glenlea’s Damian Farinola and Kingswood’s Sean Van Rensburg had a high class match at top single with Van Rensburg coming out on top 7-6 in the third. Unfortunately from there it was all Glenlea with club coach Todd Langman taking out Jayden Pacor in the singles before pairing up with Brock Meuris to seal a strong win for Glenlea.

Broadview had an much needed win over The Drive with a four rubbers to two victory. Nathan Eshmade debuted in style for Broadview when he beat Jonothon Norodom in straight sets. The Drive young gun Sebastien Flock did his best with an upset win over Kurtis Wilson at second single to give his team a chance. However, Broadview fought back to win both doubles and take out a much need win after losing their first round match last week.
