The finals of the Junior ATL / Angus Thomson Cup were played at Next Generation Tennis Complex on Sunday. Southern Districts Tennis Association and Eastern Districts Tennis Association took part in both the Boys and Girls finals after their performances in the round-robin matches.

Alana Repanich got the EDTA Girls off to the best possible start, with a 4-0 4-0 win against Jacqui Scott. Jieyi Chen had a hard-fought win against SDTA’s Emilia Bowell, taking the rubber 1-4 4-1 4-2. Olivia Sam gave SDTA some hope with a 4-2 4-2 victory against Masha Zelenskaya, meaning that the doubles rubbers were still live. Alana and Masha secured the victory for EDTA with an entertaining 2-4 4-3 10-8 win against Jacqui Scott and Olivia Sam, in what was a very close contest.

In the Boys matches, Josh Laka of SDTA had a 4-0 4-3 victory against Jack Klose of EDTA, whilst Jared Waterman got EDTA back on track with a 4-1 4-0 win against Jack Conley. Daniel Radesic gave EDTA the advantage heading into the doubles with a 1-4 4-2 4-3 win against Harrison Paay of SDTA. In the closest rubber of the tie, EDTA secured the overall victory with Jack Klose and David Wang defeating SDTA’s Josh Laka and Jack Conley 4-3 4-3 win.

Angus Thomson was in attendance for the Final and the SDTA and EDTA boys and girls were lucky enough to be presented their medals and winners shields by him.
