The 2013 Jack Pizzey Cup, a prestigious national schools tennis championships open to girls and boys aged 18 years and under is underway at Memorial Drive Tennis Centre with players from around Australia transending on Memorial Drive.

First up was round one of the Jack Pizzey Cup where Victoria started the weeklong event in strong fashion with a good win over Queensland earning the tag as early favourites for the week. Tasmania managed to overcome a fighting ACT team in a tight battle while New South Wales were too strong for the Western Australian. Home team South Australia started the week with the bye.

The Pizzey Cup is conducted by SSA in partnership with Tennis Australia. The national event attracts Australian Ranking points. In addition, an 18/u singles event known as the Australia Cup, is run in conjunction with the Pizzey Cup.

SSV selects a state representative team of 8 girls and 8 boys to compete in this annual national teams event. At the conclusion of the tournament, an All Australian team is selected, based on Pizzey Cup and Australia Cup results.
