Thirty seven matches were played throughout a superb spring day at the Happy Valley Tennis Club for the first day of qualifying at the 2012 City of Onkaparinga International.
The tournament was formally opened this morning with the event coordinator, Jim Dickson, welcoming guests and players and was highlighted with speeches from Amanda Rishworth MP, the Hon. Bob Such and City of Onkaparinga Mayor Lorraine Rosenberg.
This men’s Australian Pro Tour event features players from Australia, USA, Brazil, Japan and China vying for USD$15,000 in prize money and crucial ranking points. The strong field is headed by Sam Groth and Michael Look in the Main Draw which commences on Tuesday. It will however be local sensation Luke Saville who will attract plenty of attention as he returns home to compete on the Pro Tour for the first time in South Australia.
