National Wheelchair Coach

To help us achieve our plans we are looking for a National Wheelchair Coach to join our team!

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Players with Disability, The National Wheelchair Coach is responsible for the holistic development of select Australian wheelchair tennis players. Central to the role, the National Wheelchair Coach will oversee the daily training environment and tournament schedules of assigned players nationally. This will include daily on-court training with players in their home state, and daily/weekly touch points with select players in other states.

In this role you will:

  • Deliver professional on-court coaching for all assigned wheelchair athletes (private and group as needed) in their home state.
  • Oversee the training and competition schedules for assigned athletes.
  • Collaborate with each assigned player and their private coach to create an appropriate touring schedule.
  • Provide professional coaching and support services for touring athletes (nationally and internationally).
  • Support the development of a talent ID strategy to ensure a pipeline of players throughout the pathway.
  • In conjunction with other stakeholders, select Australian representative teams.
  • In collaboration with the Coach team, increase the awareness and development of the private coach network in wheelchair tennis coaching.
  • Deliver coaching workshops on wheelchair tennis where required.

About the role

The Players with Intellectual Impairment (PWII) and Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHOH) National Coach is tasked with overseeing the development, performance, and selection of PWII and DHOH players on both national and international stages. This coach is required to integrate tennis expertise with a profound understanding of intellectual disabilities, Autism, and deafness in order to optimise each player’s potential. Additionally, the role involves the formulation of a comprehensive PWII and DHOH talent identification strategy, aimed at ensuring a steady stream of players progress through the pathways. This strategy is geared towards achieving the overarching objective of consistently producing world #1 PWII and DHOH players year-on-year.

In this role you will:

  • Create a strategy to identify talented PWII and DHOH players nationwide.
  • Serve as the head coach for Australian representative events.
  • In consultation with the Head of PWD, Talent Development Manager – Tennis Inclusion (PWII And DHOH) and other key stakeholders, determine player selections for Australian representative events ensuring fairness, transparency and collaboration.
  • With the support of the Talent Development Manager – Tennis Inclusion (PWII And DHOH), ensure all logistics for each squad are arranged including (but not limited to) player registration, coach contract, coach hire, balls etc.
  • Support the development and upskilling of TA and private coaches working with PWII and DHOH players.
  • Meet with all Australian representative potential players and their private coaches bi-annual (at a minimum) to support training and competition schedules.

Additionally, the role will be charged with keeping abreast of emerging disability tennis pathways globally, with a focus on positioning Australia as a leader in this field. Integral to the role is the creation of a comprehensive BLV talent identification strategy aimed at fostering a continuous stream of players through these pathways. This strategy is designed to align closely with the overarching objective of achieving and maintaining a world #1 BLV player and ensuring Australia ranks #1 in international BLV medals year-on-year.

In this role you will:

I am seeking a Professional and Experienced Head Coach.

The successful candidate must have the skills and experience to manage the club’s various coaching requirements. 3 afternoons per week 3.45-8.30pm Monday / Tuesday and Friday with potential to do other nights and additional morning coaching. The current coaching program includes junior groups, junior and adult private lessons along with adult group coaching.

Overview

Ace Fun Tennis School is looking for Senior and Assistant coaches to join our growing team in 2024. You will be responsible for delivering hotshots and cardio tennis classes. You will not need to perform any administrative tasks if you do not wish. Full uniform is supplied. License and own transport is advised.

Some experience is necessary, however, training will be provided and professional development is encouraged. Ace Fun Tennis School pride itself on putting children at the front of our business model and philosophy.

We are looking for long term coaches. As the Head Junior Tennis Coach, you’ll take the reins of our junior program. This includes providing expert guidance and conducting group & private lessons to juniors (ages 5 – 18).

There is additional development to act as an emergency coach for the adult program when needed. Your hands-on approach and ability to understand the basics of tennis is fundamental, along with the responsibility of devising lesson plans for our coaching team. There’s also an optional opportunity to engage in administrative work, and most importantly, this role offers ample space for personal and professional growth, serving as an excellent stepping stone for those eyeing their future tennis club.

We are seeking Senior Coaches and Assistant Coaches at Slamin Tennis and Fitness, which operates in the Eastern Suburbs – Doncaster and surrounding suburbs.

These positions can be taken on Full time or Part time, or even just one day per week, – the choice is yours. All staff are employed as Permanent employees, accruing all leave entitlements and penalty rates.

Position available from Term 1 2024, prior holiday program work maybe available. We specialise in the development of players of all abilities form kinder children to high performance players, ladies groups, Hot Shots, Teenagers, high performance adults, effectively anyone who wants to learn the game.

We are a very community orientated business, and our tennis community welcomes in all new coaches as part of the family.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Expected to participate in all on court programs.
  • Travel between venues, (3-7mins apart).
  • Arrive early to set equipment up and greet students.
  • Actively promote and grow participation numbers.
  • Plan every lesson with purpose and specific goals for student progressions
  • Be confident coaching beginners, children, adults, private lessons, squads and students with a disability.
  • Able to coach fully independently.
  • Expand existing schools programs, and pathways back to the Club.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Tennis Australia Junior Development Coach, or ATPCA or equivalent. We will consider applications who are about to complete a course, and / or in the middle of one.
  • Formal qualifications will be favourably viewed, however we do appreciate not all amazing coaches have a formal qualification, but a desire to be formally qualified is expected
  • Tennis Coaching experience is a MUST.

  • Coaches are permanent employee’s with ample scope to increase at their preference. Salary is according to qualifications and experience as per the Fitness Industry Award. Including:

  • This is guaranteed permanent income regardless of weather, in the event lessons are cancelled due to weather, coaches pivot and complete off court administration tasks and processes.
