The Ingham Tennis Association is looking for a highly motivated, energetic and reliable coach to operate out of our centre. The centre consists 14 hardcourts, all of which were resurfaced in early 2016. In addition the centre has 4 separate mini-courts and a dedicated hitting wall.

This is an excellent opportunity for a self employed operator, providing incentive to grow an already successful venue. The courts are currently utilised by the club on Tuesday and Thursday nights and Wednesday mornings. Outside those times there are limited casual bookings allowing ample time for any coaching programs to be run.

It is hoped the successful applicant will start at the beginning of the third school term in 2017.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

• Working extremely well with children of all ages and tennis playing abilities
• Help drive the growth of club membership through school coaching programs
• As an active club member be willing to assist with club initiatives
• Support the ANZ Hot Shots program
• Support the Fitbit Cardio Tennis program

The mandatory requirements of the position include:

• Tennis Australia coach membership or be able to provide proof of adequate qualifications and insurance
• Current Working with Children Check – Blue Card
• First Aid certification

All applicants must share a passion for helping ppl and tennis coaching, they will be conducting junior and adult programs of all levels and have to adapt to a changing environments. Successful applicants will be involved in running Hot Shots programs, school programs, adult clinics and private lessons. Adequate training is available if needed for specialised lessons.

Head Coach – Cairns International Tennis Centre

An excellent opportunity exists to lead the coaching team at the Cairns International Tennis Centre (CITC), one of Queensland’s leading regional tennis facilities. We promote and facilitate participation in Tennis at all levels and also conduct national and international tournaments. The most widely recognised of these is the Cairns International – an event forming part of the Australian Pro Tour

Reporting to the Facility Manager, the Head Coach is responsible for providing teaching services to players of all ages and abilities, with a particular focus on providing a transparent development pathway. The Head Coach will play a key role in the providing exceptional customer service to new and existing CITC customers and the ongoing promotion of the products and services available at the facility. This role will demonstrate best practice teaching models and instruction that reflects the values, professionalism and reputation of Tennis Australia, Tennis Queensland and the CITC team.

Your duties include but are not limited to:

  • Deliver and promote high quality on court teaching as part of the junior coaching program ensuring effective customer interaction and engagement.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to CITC regular user groups, current and potential members/customers
  • Research and implement opportunities to expand the tennis programming offerings to increase involvement from the local communities, and maximize utilization of the venue.
  • Develop and implement the relevant player progression framework, lesson plans, coaching quality checklist and report cards that will deliver the agreed standard of coaching and response to customer feedback
  • Support, conduct and promote National programs and initiatives
  • Attend regular meetings reporting and offering advice to the overall well-being of the operations of the CITC
  • Support all talent development and high performance players at local and interstate tennis events, including Super 10s, JDS and Australian Ranking tournaments
  • Have an understanding of modern teaching techniques as the core component of your coaching philosophy and delivery

To succeed in this exciting position, you will have a minimum Club Professional coaching qualification, good knowledge of best practices in a range of sports, both in Australia and overseas, a current First Aid qualification,  a valid working with children check and be a Tennis Australia coach member (or willing), as well as the following knowledge, skills and attributes:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a professional, approachable manner to build collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders from all ages and abilities;
  • Retail and/or Restringing experience (advantageous);
  • Ability to be creative and innovative in implementing programs;
  • Has an energy and enthusiasm that inspires others
  • A passion for working as part of a hands-on team and growing the game of Tennis;
  • High level of attention to detail and outstanding organisational and time management skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment and prioritise work programs to meet deadlines;
  • Preparedness to be flexible with regard to working hours and availability;
  • Knowledge of the tennis landscape and broader industry nationally (ie. coaching industry, tournaments and competitions);
