National Wheelchair Coach

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Players with Disability, The National Wheelchair Coach is responsible for the holistic development of select Australian wheelchair tennis players. Central to the role, the National Wheelchair Coach will oversee the daily training environment and tournament schedules of assigned players nationally. This will include daily on-court training with players in their home state, and daily/weekly touch points with select players in other states.

In this role you will:

  • Deliver professional on-court coaching for all assigned wheelchair athletes (private and group as needed) in their home state.
  • Oversee the training and competition schedules for assigned athletes.
  • Collaborate with each assigned player and their private coach to create an appropriate touring schedule.
  • Provide professional coaching and support services for touring athletes (nationally and internationally).
  • Support the development of a talent ID strategy to ensure a pipeline of players throughout the pathway.
  • In conjunction with other stakeholders, select Australian representative teams.
  • In collaboration with the Coach team, increase the awareness and development of the private coach network in wheelchair tennis coaching.
  • Deliver coaching workshops on wheelchair tennis where required.

About the role

The Players with Intellectual Impairment (PWII) and Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHOH) National Coach is tasked with overseeing the development, performance, and selection of PWII and DHOH players on both national and international stages. This coach is required to integrate tennis expertise with a profound understanding of intellectual disabilities, Autism, and deafness in order to optimise each player’s potential. Additionally, the role involves the formulation of a comprehensive PWII and DHOH talent identification strategy, aimed at ensuring a steady stream of players progress through the pathways. This strategy is geared towards achieving the overarching objective of consistently producing world #1 PWII and DHOH players year-on-year.

In this role you will:

  • Create a strategy to identify talented PWII and DHOH players nationwide.
  • Serve as the head coach for Australian representative events.
  • In consultation with the Head of PWD, Talent Development Manager – Tennis Inclusion (PWII And DHOH) and other key stakeholders, determine player selections for Australian representative events ensuring fairness, transparency and collaboration.
  • With the support of the Talent Development Manager – Tennis Inclusion (PWII And DHOH), ensure all logistics for each squad are arranged including (but not limited to) player registration, coach contract, coach hire, balls etc.
  • Support the development and upskilling of TA and private coaches working with PWII and DHOH players.
  • Meet with all Australian representative potential players and their private coaches bi-annual (at a minimum) to support training and competition schedules.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Players with Disability, The Blind/Low Vision (BLV) and Alternative Disability Pathways National Coach is tasked with the development, performance, and selection of BLV players on both national and international platforms. Additionally, the role will be charged with keeping abreast of emerging disability tennis pathways globally, with a focus on positioning Australia as a leader in this field. Integral to the role is the creation of a comprehensive BLV talent identification strategy aimed at fostering a continuous stream of players through these pathways. This strategy is designed to align closely with the overarching objective of achieving and maintaining a world #1 BLV player and ensuring Australia ranks #1 in international BLV medals year-on-year.

In this role you will:

  • Create a strategy to identify talented BLV players nationwide
  • Serve as the head coach for Australian representative events.
  • With support from the Talent Development Manager – Tennis Inclusion (Wheelchair and BLV ), develop and lead Australian representative camps.

Floreat Park Tennis Club is a friendly and lively 12-court tennis club based in Perth, WA. We have an active membership of adults and juniors, and offer a full range of group coaching sessions and private lessons, as well as social play and the entry of teams in Tennis West Leagues.

Head Coach/Junior Leagues Coordinator

Overview

Bullcreek Tennis Club is seeking a head coach to become an integral part of our community to i) operate as an independent contractor in providing coaching services at the club, and ii) coordinate and supervise junior tennis league teams.

The successful applicant will have exclusive rights to provide professional coaching services at the club to its members and non-members.

In these roles you will operate alongside a supportive, forward thinking and energetic committee who are open to new ideas.

Bullcreek Tennis Club is a thriving club with over 300 members. It has 11 hard courts; 10 of those are under new LED lights. The club will be upgrading 5 courts later this year to the Laykold Masters Gel cushioned surface.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Providing comprehensive coaching programs to cater for members and non members including but not limited to; Hot shots, Cardio Tennis, School holiday programs, High performance, Private and group lessons.

Coordinate and supervise Junior Tennis League teams as a member of club tennis subcommittee.

Work with and provide feedback to the club Executive committee at regular intervals.

Coaching services and staff aligned with and supporting club objectives. Coaching staff to be active and involved club members.

Providing input and assistance to the club tennis subcommittee in running of Club Championships, Junior tournament, social tennis and other activities.

Promotion, encouragement and support of club membership and volunteering, particularly parents of junior members.

KEY ATTRIBUTES

Tennis Australia Club Professional Coach (minimum or working towards this qualification) Reliable, committed and focused on delivering a highly professional service, including development and qualifications of assistant / trainee coaches.

Strong leadership and effective communication skills. Articulate, organised, enthusiastic and well-mannered.

Will have proven pro-active coaching ability, particularly for club players. Priority is to ensure a safe and encouraging environment for all players.

Proven ability to develop rapport and relationships with coaching students and parents.

Proven ability to develop a good working relationship with the club committees and its members.

Adaptability and passion to maintain the Bullcreek Tennis club as one of the best and well respected medium sized club.

DETAILS

The contract will be initially for 1 year commencing 1 July 2024, with an option to renew for a further 3 years. Rental fee will take into consideration the number of courts used (day and night) and the Junior Tennis League coordinator role. Secure storage shed is provided for coaching equipment. The Head Coach (or other qualified junior or Club Professional coach) is expected to be present at the club whenever coaching services are being performed.

Job duties and responsibilities

Senior Coach Role

Coaching of children and adults of all abilities and goals, most of our work is private and small group coaching. You will need the ability to tailor lessons to your varied clientele. We expect you will build great rapport with them over their coaching journey and they will look forward to your energetic and enthusiastic lessons.

A senior coach will be required to work unsupervised, take ownership of lesson content and delivery and record lesson attendance and payments daily via our custom designed app. Work is generally mornings with a break during the day, then afternoon and night sessions. There will be flexibility to organise your preferred schedule if it fits with our requirements.

Senior coaches would be expected to be available five and a half days a week You will be a motivated, growth mindset individual, always wanting to improve yourself as a person and a coach. We have the environment to help you thrive, via coach training sessions with the head coach, but giving you the autonomy to run lessons in your own style.

Enjoyment and enthusiasm for coaching all levels of player required. Experience in coaching adults from beginners, training ladies social league teams as well as developing juniors through the ball stages and into league and tournament tennis.
