Junior State League – Results

Junior State League Player of the Year – Ladder

Round 6 saw a super round at Peake Gardens Tennis Club in the Girls Junior State League competition. The players were met by the AO Trophies Norm and Daph as part of TennisFest. Once players had their photos taken with the trophies they headed on court to compete.

Trinity Gardens overcame Happy Valley’s consistent form winning four rubbers to two. Happy Valley’s number one Heidi Evans undefeated singles run came to an end when Trinity Gardens Amber Marshall made her debut winning 6-1. After the singles Trinity Gardens led three rubbers to one, Happy Valley did all they could to take it to games but the combination of Trinity Gardens Amber and Meeka Marshall held off Heidi Evens and Cydney Crumbie to win 7-6 and hand Trinity Gardens the four premiership points.

Seaside came up against Hahndorf who were looking for their first win of the season. Seaside’s Tully Richter earned the first point for her side when she defeated Kara Tscharke 6-1. The rubbers were even after Hahndorf’s Jacqueline Smith won at number four against Georgia Plunkett 6-4. The doubles followed with Hanhdorf taking the top doubles 6-3 and losing the bottom doubles to Seaside 7-5. This lead to Seaside winning by a nail biting three games in the closet match of the round.

Goodwood is the only team in the Girls competition to remain undefeated after defeating Beaumont four rubbers to two. Goodowood’s number one Nikki Milner was pushed by Rita Zhiltsova winning 6-4, while Beaumont’s Hayley Riessen defeated Caitlin Nancarrow at number four to split the singles at two all. It was the Goodowood’s dominate display in doubles which proved the difference with Goodwood winning both.

In the Boy’s competition, the only team to be undefeated remained undefeated when Peake Gardens were unable to stop the strength of Coromandel Valley. Coromandel Valley’s number one Olly Douglas won 6-0 and his team mates followed winning all four singles, Corormandel Valley walked away with a five rubber to one win.

Stirling remained in the Top Four after holding off a Glenunga team which can’t be overlooked. Stirling’s Justin Tscharke, Jasper Benson and Noah Phillips gave the team a three rubbers to none lead winning their respective matches. Glenunga’s Ben Kelly opened up an opportunity winning at number four against David Pienaar 6-1, Glenunga then followed it up winning the top doubles 6-1. Stirling was able to stop Glenunga who seemed to be having a late run when they defeated them in the bottom doubles 7-6 winning four rubbers to two.

Trinity Garden’s won five rubbers to one against Seaside. The win wasn’t as dominate as it seemed with number two and Three Zac Nurton and Luka Ilic both winning 7-6 that could have gone either way for Trinity Gardens. Trinity Garden’s look to continue this form as they push up the premiership ladder.

Goodwood continue to close the gap on Coromandel Valley winning yet again against Tea Tree Gully five rubbers to one. Goodwood’s Stefan Bianchet moved up to number one to replace an injured Josh Laka. Stefan handed Dale Nixon his first defeat of the season winning 6-2. This form continued through the match, with Goodwood dropping one rubber in the top doubles.
