With over 6,000 South Australian children now actively participating in weekly MLC Tennis Hot Shots sessions, both Tea Tree Gully Tennis Club and Paracombe Primary School have painted permanent MLC Tennis Hot Shots lines on the their existing sporting areas to keep up with the demand.

Tea Tree Gully Tennis Club is one of the leading venues in South Australia with Hot Shots and co-hosts the North Eastern Tennis Association (NETA) orange ball division.

Jason Todd, Tea Tree Gully’s Head Coach said “orange ball is the single biggest contributor to the growth of our tennis club. The new permanent lines we have put down make the program easier to run and are not intrusive to normal tennis.”

Paracombe Primary School have recently registered as a National Partnership School and in addition to the $1,500 of free equipment that they received they have now painted four Hot Shots red courts on their existing basketball court.

“Ever since we got the lines permanently marked the children have been using the courts every day.” Paracombe Primary School Principal, Bill Lewis said.

Community Tennis Officer Andrew Wilson is hoping that more schools and clubs are encouraged to get permanent Hot Shots lines on their existing courts as this will compliment the growing red and orange ball coaching, competitions and tournaments that are happening in South Australia.

“A huge incentive to get involved with this is the financial assistance that Tennis Australia can provide to clubs and schools that choose this option.”
