Day 4 of the City of Onkaparinga ATP Challenger 2016 has brought with it some surprising results with only two seeded players left standing, however it has been an outstanding day for the Aussies with an additional three making their way through to the second round.

Victoria’s Andrew Whittington had the stand out win of the day with a three set victory over second seed Bjorn Fratangelo (USA) 6-3 3-6 6-3, booking himself a round of 16 encounter with South Australia’s Bradley Mousley. In other Australian results, Maverick Banes (QLD) knocked out sixth seed Grega Zemlja (SLO) 6-4 7-6(3), whilst Dayne Kelly (Vic) came away with a win over Daniel Evans (GBR) 7-5 6-4.

In other matches, number one seed, Dudi Sela (ISR) had a tight 6-4 7-6(4) win against Uladzimir Ignatik (BLR), Hiroki Moriya defeated [4] Igor Sijsling (NED) 3-6 6-1 6-4 and Jan Satral overcame [5] Aleksandr Nedovyesov (KAZ) 6-3 5-7 6-3.

Day 5 is headlined by another South Australian double header, with Alex Bolt opening Centre Court at 11:00am against Nils Langer (GER), followed by Mousley taking on Whittington. In the doubles, number one seeds Carsten Ball (AUS) and Frank Moser (GER) are set to take to the court for the first time, against Matteo Donati (ITA) and Andrey Golubev (KAZ) in the second match on Court 6, not before 12:00noon.
