Day 2 of the City of Onkaparinga ATP Challenger 2016 has come to a close with eight matches completed in lovely conditions. Damian Farinola remains as the last South Australian standing in qualifying after knocking out top seed Denys Molchanov (UKR) in three sets 2-6 6-1 6-2, whilst Marinko Matosevic (AUS) has had a relatively straight forward win over Steven De Waard (AUS), 6-3 6-1.

In other matches, Germain Gigounon (BEL) defeated local wildcard Sam Longhurst 7-5 6-1, Maverick Banes (AUS) defeated South Australia’s Daniel Hobart 6-2 7-6(1) and Aleksandar Vukic knocked out the number two seed Zhe Li (CHN) 1-6 7-6(3) 7-6(8).

Day 3 is headlined by Marinko Matosevic (AUS) playing in the final round of qualifying against Peter Polansky (CAN) not before 11:00am, followed by the start of the main draw with a South Australian double header, Alex Bolt taking on third seeded Colombian Alejandro Gonzalez and Bradley Mousley against Serbia’s Laslo Djere.
