The Social Serve: Hanging out in Starbucks
Social media sleuth Joel Smith digs up the best of tennis in the social stratosphere this week.
For the world’s top tennis players, the three weeks between Roland Garros and Wimbledon serve as grasscourt practice time – as well as a bit of cafe downtime.
It seems Starbucks was the cafe of choice for our players in the UK. It’s surprising they didn’t run into each other…

When Ajla Tomljanovic wasn’t at Starbucks, she was playing tour guide in Nottingham.
Thinking about coming to #AegonOpen #Nottingham? Then let @Ajlatom take you on a tour of the grounds https://t.co/O1aMhuvmae

Just as one champion prepares to hang up the racquet, a whole army of Aussies is paving the way for the future of our sport.

Now let’s flash back to the early 2000s, when the scooter was cool. Nick Kyrgios is bringing it back!

Not sure about the new hairstyle though…

Let’s cast back even further to the days of Where’s Wally? How about “Where’s Roger?”

More recently, if you haven’t checked out the new ATP website, it’s worth a visit. Looks like the players love their new profiles.

The fans, on the other hand, love a bit of tennis magic. Just like when Casey Dellacqua suspended a tennis ball mid-air at Birmingham…
It appears that @caseydellacqua can suspend a tennis ball in mid-air by the power of thought. #AegonOpen pic.twitter.com/DG3Gw7JkLq

Let’s hope the doctors can work some magic for Thanasi Kokkinakis’s grandmother.

Finally it wouldn’t be a ‘Social Serve’ without an obligatory #selfie. While Sam Groth’s selfie made us feel at home here in Melbourne:
