Thanasi Kokkinakis has boosted to four the number of Aussies in the main draw of the ATP event in Shenzhen, China.

Kokkinakis on Monday defeated New Zealand’s Michael Venus, winning 6-2 7-5 in one hour and 22 minutes.

Twelve aces helped the Aussie teen into main draw where he joins Sam Groth and James Duckworth; Kokkinakis will take on Belarusian Egor Gerasimov in his first match.

Matt Ebden was also in the tournament, until he fell in the opening round to Italian Simone Bolelli.

Bolelli posted a 6-4 6-2 victory in just over an hour, setting up a second-round stoush with either compatriot and eighth seed Andreas Seppi or Argentine Maximo Gonzalez.
