There was plenty of WA success at the M25 and W25 ITF Swan Hill International last week with WA athletes represented in all four of the championship matches.

A total of nine players from Western Australia competed across all singles and doubles draws.

22-year-old Tristan Schoolkate continued his outstanding 2023 form, winning both the men’s singles and doubles draw.

Coming from a set down in the singles final, Schoolkate managed to defeat fellow Australian Philip Sekulic 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. In the doubles, Tristan Schoolkate teamed up with fellow Aussie Luke Saville, winning in straight sets against other Aussies Blake Ellis and Matthew Romios 7-6, 6-0.

The win came off the back of a doubles win in the ITF M25 Burnie International and a strong performance in the Burnie Challenger 75 Event, held at the beginning of February, making it through to the final alongside Luke Saville but going down to Aussies Marc Polmans and Max Purcell 7-6, 6-4.

Results were just as impressive in the women’s doubles with Lily Fairclough winning the women’s doubles with Olivia Gadecki 6-3, 6-3 against En Shuo Liang and Yafan Wang.

Fairclough and Gadecki had previously had some success together, making the final of the women’s doubles in the W25 Burnie International earlier in the month.

In the women’s singles, Maddison Inglis had an impressive run to the final, failing to drop a set, Inglis came up against Australian Arina Rodinova in the women’s final going down in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.

Talia Gibson, Tim Gray, Scott Jones, Ethan Dunn, Ethan Cooke, and Derek Pham also competed in the event.
