15 August 2013 | Tennis West

The second Camp Courage for 2013 has been completed with 10 girls and 15 boys travelling to Geraldton for the four-day camp. Camp Courage has been designed to put athletes outside of their comfort zone to assist with building self-confidence, independence and a stronger training culture in Western Australia. The theme for the camp was based on resilience.

During the four days, athletes participated in a number of on-court sessions that were focused on drilling, match play and skills testing. Athletes were also exposed to physical activities including log runs, sand dune hill sprints and a 4km run around the pinnacles. Five athletes from the Geraldton region participated in the camp.

The camp was run by Tennis West State Coach – Len Cannell and assisted by National Academy staff members – Adam Carey and Andrew Roberts. Tennis West will endeavor to offer Camp Courage twice per year.
