The Hutchison Builders Toowoomba International will in 2013 aim to further enhance the experience for players and tennis fans in the region.

With a new slot in the tournament calendar of 7-15 September (moved from February), the Australian Pro Tour event will also see the addition of a women’s event in 2013.

An exciting mix of local and international talent will converge on the Toowoomba Regional Tennis Centre at the University of Southern Queensland, all chasing valuable ATP and WTA ranking points.

Tournament director Matt Richards said the event would go form strength to strength thanks to the addition of a women’s field.

“It’s great to have a combined men’s and women’s event in Toowoomba, and it’s going to be a great week-and-a-half of tennis, so I’d certainly encourage all of the local community to get behind the tournament,” he said.

The tournament will also welcome a new sponsor – local corporate firm Tilly’s Crawler Parts Pty Ltd have signed on in 2013 as the presenting partner of the women’s event.

As well as taking in the professional on court action, there will be plenty of other activities on hand for fans to enjoy, including MLC Tennis Hot Shots, Cardio Tennis, a ‘speed serve’ facility and the exhibition doubles round-robin event featuring members of the local business community.

The Toowoomba Regional Tennis Centre will also host a $10,000 platinum Australian Money Tournament in the week preceding the Pro Tour event.
