Tennis legends Li Na and Martina Navratilova joined forces today for the inaugural Focus on Women event supported by ANZ.

Held just days after the first ever international launch of the Grand Slam of Asia-Pacific in Shanghai, the Focus on Women event was part of Tennis Australia’s ongoing commitment to the region.

Li Na, who became the first Asian woman in history to win a Grand Slam title when she claimed the French Open crown in 2011, and 18-time major winner Navratilova, said the event was an important initiative for both gender and Asia-Pacific relations.

Li Na also helped launch the Australian Open WeChat account this week, taking the Grand Slam of Asia-Pacific to more than 600 million users worldwide.

Today’s event and the launch of Australian Open WeChat are both part of Tennis Australia’s ongoing goal to more closely integrate the Australian Open and the sport of tennis throughout the region.
