Ajla Tomljanovic has come through a thrilling semifinal at the PTT Pattaya Open in Thailand to stand one win away from a maiden WTA title.

The Brisbane-based Tomljanovic overcame Puerto Rico’s Monica Puig 7-6(4) 5-7 7-6(7) on Saturday to reach her first WTA final.

There, she will meet Daniela Hantuchova, the Slovak veteran who survived two match points to see off New Zealand’s Marina Erakovic.

The former world No.5’s 4-6 6-3 7-6(3) victory over Erakovic set up a third career meeting with the 21-year-old Tomljanovic.

The pair have split their first two encounters; Tomljanovic won their most recent match in straight sets at Apia International Sydney 2014.

Tomljanovic and Hantuchova will meet in the final to be staged on Sunday afternoon in Pattaya.
