Together with Queensland School Sport, Tennis Queensland has staged the regional finals of the Brisbane International Schools’ Challenge. The competition runs in two categories, orange ball for students up to grade 5 and  green ball for students up to grade 6. More than 150 teams partipated in the regional finals throughout the state. The winning teams of the orange ball and the top two teams of the green ball competition of each regional final have qualified to compete for the State title at the Brisbane International.

In the Metro region three different ties were run in alignment with the school sports regions. The Met West final kicked the ties of on Saturday 7 November on a scorching day at the Queensland Tennis Centre. Ambrose Treacy College defeated Brisbane Boys College in the green ball final. Both teams will come back to the same venue for the State Final in January. In the orange ball competition Fig Tree Pocket prevailed over Brookfield State School in a high-class final to take the Met West title.

The regional final for the Met East region followed on Sunday 8 November. Rain disrupted play a couple of times but organizers were able to get through the competition. Rochedale State School put up a strong performance with two teams finishing in the top 3 of the orange ball category. Moreton Bay College finished 2nd in both categories and claimed the second spot in the green ball category only falling to John Paul College in the finals.

The Met North region concluded the Metropolitan ties at Shaw Park Tennis Centre on Sunday 15 November. With 16 teams in the orange and 14 in the green ball competition it was the busiest of the ties with some very competitive and close matches determining the winners. Brisbane Grammar School and Kelvin Grove State School were able to progress to the green ball State Final. They will be accompanied by Clayfield College in the orange ball category.
