About the Ipswich Tennis League (ITL)

The ITL is an Inter-Club competition for the Ipswich Region. It currently has 7 Clubs that regularly enter teams, and are as follows:-

Fred Daniel Tennis (FDT)

Baseline Tennis Club (BLTC)

Ipswich District Junior Tennis Association (IDJTA)

Ipswich Girls Grammar School (IGGS)

Ipswich Grammar School (Boys) (IGS)

George Alder Tennis Club

Tall Gums Tennis Club (TG)

Friday night junior fixtures is currently offered with adult offerings to be implemented across 2023. For more information in regards to playing competition tennis, please contact your local club.

There are also multiple representative opportunities across the year which include:

Duncan Thompson Cup, Alder Cup, Perrett Shield and QLD State League. Access to these teams is for players participating in the ITL

UTR – Universal Tennis Rating and Competitive play Profile (Tennis Accounts)

Since the announcement of the partnership between UTR and Tennis Australia we have seen the considerable use and growth of ratings based competition. There is now a high percentage of events that utilise ratings for both entry and/or grading purposes which encourages level based play. Whilst the ITL has used ratings to grade its players and teams since its inception, the ITL is excited to announce that all eligible fixture results will automatically feed into UTR. This means players can compete in their local fixtures and keep their UTR up to date as well as potentially improve it.

Ipswich Representative Opportunities – Dates TBA

STATE LEAGUE FINAL

The State League Final is a team tennis opportunity for all Tennis Qld
affiliated clubs and regions. It allows all club members the chance to
represent their club and/or region and play against teams from around the state
to determine the state champion. The event will cater for a wide range of standards
and age brackets across multiple divisions and will be played alongside the `Brisbane
Tennis’ event to add to the experience.

Perret Shield

The Perrett Shield is a junior competition with a long history that See Ipswich take on Toowoomba.
Teams consist of 12 Male & 12 Female players across 4 age groups (11's, 13's, 15's & 17's).

Duncan Thompson Cup & Alder Cup

The Duncan Thompson & Alder Cups were started in 1948 & 1949 respectively with Ipswich taking on Toowoomba in the annual event. The current standings are as follows
 Duncan Thompson Cup – Toowoomba 45 & Ipswich 19
 Alder Cup – Toowoomba 35 & Ipswich 26
The Duncan Thompson is an open age even whilst the Alder cup is restricted
to 18yrs and younger. The Ipswich Tennis League is looking for nominations
to participate in the day.
