15 October 2015 | Tennis Queensland

Tennis Australia is thrilled to announce two Community Coaching Courses commencing soon – one in Emerald and one in Moura.

The Emerald Course will be held at the Emerald & District Lawn Tennis Association in Opal Street on Saturday 31st October, Sunday 1st November & Monday 2nd November, 2015.

The Moura Course will be held at the Moura Tennis Club in Nott Street on Friday 6th November, Saturday 7th November & Sunday 8th November, 2015.

During the Community Coaching Course, participants learn to develop the skills of junior tennis players through the delivery of the ANZ Hot Shots program. The course aims to develop the participants ability to deliver coaching sessions using modified balls, racquets, nets and courts appropriate to the development needs of junior players with the emphasis on a creative, positive learning environment for children. This course covers Tennis Australia technical and tactical fundamentals, legal and ethical responsibilities of a coach, coaching methodology, risk management and program planning.

This course has been modified to accommodate the unique challenges that regional coaches face – time and distance. Now only held across 3 contact days, this course will be a wonderful opportunity to grow the sport in the Central Region of Queensland, and the cost is FREE to all Tennis Queensland club affiliates. All Tennis Queensland clubs will be entitled to at least one participant and each club may also have more than one participant.

The Community Coaching Course is suitable for people who would like to begin coaching tennis, or who are currently coaching under the guidance of a qualified tennis coach.
