Wimbledon, London, UK, 18 July 2017 | Tennis Queensland

Wimbledon was a largely forgettable tournament for Australian singles, but in doubles, our results were much more impressive, with Queensland’s Ash Barty and Blake Ellis both going deep into the tournament.

For Barty and partner Casey Dellacqua, a dream run came to an end in the quarterfinals of the Womens’ Doubles, where they lost to eventual winners and Olympic Gold Medallists Ekatarina Makarova (RUS) and Elina Vesnina (RUS) 4-6, 6-4, 4-6.

Meanwhile, in the Boys Championships, Blake Ellis made the third round in singles where he lost to 11th seed Jurij Rodionov (AUT) in three sets.  Ellis also made the semifinals of the doubles with partner Matteo Martineau (FRA), where they lost in another marathon three setter 6-7, 7-6, 8-10.
