Sara Tomic has advanced through to the semifinals of the Australian Open junior championships defeating fellow Australian Baujing Lin 6-1 7-5 6-2 in today’s quarterfinal. The seventeen-year-old will now face the winner of the match between A.Kalinskaya [4] and V.Lapko [5].

Another player to watch out for is rising Queenslander, Oliver Anderson. Anderson defeated the no.1 seeded boy, Mate Valkusz 6-4 6-3 in the third round to set up a quarterfinal matchup with fellow Australian wildcard entrant, Max Purcell. Oliver has had a phenomenal start to the year with the teenager qualifying to play infront of a home crowd at the Brisbane International in January.

In the doubles, the combination of Blake Ellis and Alex De Minaur has been a dominant force in the junior draw with the duo blitzing their quarterfinal match 6-1 6-1 over T.Horie (JPN) and N.Kuhn (GER). The pair will playoff for a spot in the finals against fellow Australian’s Scott Jones and Max Purcell.
