For the first time the Gold Coast Tennis Region will host its own marquee team competition starting on 13 September. Six teams will compete for a spot in the finals to claim a berth in the state finals where the Gold Coast Tennis League (GCTL) winner will face the winners of both the Brisbane Tennis League as well as the North Tennis League.

Six team will contest for the glory with the list headlined by the Beenleigh Blaze and their team experience competing in the Asia-Pacific Tennis League. They will be challenged by the Gold Coast Seniors Giants, the GCA Gladiators, the Palm Beach Panthers, Tennis Plus Dynamite and the Hinterland Hurricanes.

Tennis Queensland Leagues Manager and Conference Manager for the GCTL, Marc Wittman says “the new league gives clubs and centers the opportunity to showcase their leading athletes and facilities to the local public. Spectators will see high quality tennis and there will be food, off-court entertainment and tennis opportunities for people who are new to the sport. We are hoping many people will take part in this experience and to come to the matches.”

The first round of the GCTL will take place from 1pm on Sunday 13 September at Gold Coast Seniors Tennis Club, 24 Pizzey Drive, Mermaid Waters.
