Sonic Tennis 2015

On Friday fifteen lucky kids from Sonic Tennis were the last group to take to the courts for the 2015 Brisbane International in one of the ANZ Tennis Hot Shots (ANZTHS) demonstration.

The kids were keen to get inside the centre and many of them were keeping their eyes open for the many professional tennis players walking the grounds – eager to get an autograph!

Coach Ryan Kebblewhite led them onto court and the Hot Shots players played fifteen minutes on show court one. They were then also given the opportunity to be a part of the ANZTHS demonstration on Pat Rafter Arena. This was a true highlight for the kids, as soon as they got on the court they competed in intense rallies and enjoyed every moment – with their parents, family and friends watching on from the front row.

The kids participated on court, but also thoroughly enjoyed all of the activities that the Kids Activities Central provided them including facepainting, colouring in, dive volley, speed serve, hit the target and rock climbing amongst many more things to get involved in!

ANZ Tennis Hot Shots is just for kids. Smaller courts, lighter racquets and low compression balls that don’t bounce too high make learning tennis fun and easy for primary school-aged children. This means that kids are able to start rallying and having fun right from their first lesson!

There are three stages – Red, Orange and Green – that help to develop children’s skills and confidence. Children are taught by qualified Tennis Australia coaches and progress at their pace, moving on to the next stage when they are ready.
