It was a trip of a lifetime for fourteen lucky indigenous tennis players from the Toowoomba PCYC yesterday to day two of the Brisbane International.

The group travelled from Toowoomba and surrounding suburbs with Indigenous Community Sport and Recreation Officer Dusty Wilson to participate in the MLC Tennis Hot Shots (MLCTHS) demonstration on court.

For many of the kids, this was their first experience of playing tennis – not to mention in front of close to a thousand fans sitting on Show Court 1 prior to the commencement of matches.

The kids participated on court, but also thoroughly enjoyed all of the activities that the Suncorp Sunwise Kids Day and Kids Activities Central provided them!

MLC Tennis Hot Shots is just for kids. Smaller courts, lighter racquets and low compression balls that don’t bounce too high make learning tennis fun and easy for primary school-aged children. This means that kids are able to start rallying and having fun right from their first lesson!

There are three stages – Red, Orange and Green – that help to develop children’s skills and confidence. Children are taught by qualified Tennis Australia coaches and progress at their pace, moving on to the next stage when they are ready.

For further information visit www.hotshots.tennis.com.au or drop down to the Kids Zone at the Brisbane International where you too can get information on and play MLC Tennis Hot Shots.
