The Rod Laver Junior Championships began on Tuesday 2nd July with players from all over Australia as well as New Zealand, New Caledonia, Hong Kong, Papua New Guinea, Sweden, Thailand and more playing in the hope to take out the Championship title. In traditional Rod Laver tournament spirit, the players’ first battle was against the rain and consequent delays of day one. But from day two, and continuing into the heart of the tournament, the sun has thankfully come out to shine and play has returned to normal for everyone involved.

An exciting addition to the tournament in 2013 is the Tennis & Gear Player of the Day. At the end of each day in the 2013 Rod Laver Championships, tournament major sponsor Tennis & Gear Online will be selecting a random player to present with exciting tennis gear! All players will have to keep an eye on the Tennis Queensland Facebook Page to see if their picture has been snapped and claim their prize!
