28 March 2013 | Tennis Queensland

The last of the quarter finalists were decided today at the Bundaberg Tennis International.

Another bright sunny day saw defending champion and third seed from Queensland Jason Kubler dispose of friend and doubles partner Steven De Waard. Kubler was in exemplary form as he took the match 6-2 6-0. Kubler will now take on last week’s Ipswich Pro Tour winner Colin Ebelthite from South Australia. The sixth seeded Ebelthite found himself in trouble late in the first set against Queenslander Kaden Hensel before running away with the match 7-6(4) 6-1.

Women’s action today saw third seeded Aussie, Sacha Jones account for Japan’s Shuko Aoyama 6-2 6-4. Western Australian Storm Sanders continued with her brilliant current form by taking out seventh seed from Thailand, Varatchaya Wongteanchai. Second seed from Japan Erika Sema also got through her second round opponent and fellow countrywoman Sachi Ishizu in a closely fought contest 1-6 6-1 6-4.

Tomorrow will see a great line up of action as all eight seeds in the men’s draw will vie for a place in Saturday’s semi finals. Also taking to the court will be the top seed in the women’s draw from Victoria, Olivia Rogowska taking on fifth seed from Japan Yurika Sema. Sema’s younger sister and second seeded Erika, will look to avenge the defeat she suffered at the hands of Western Australian Storm Sanders last week as the two duke it out for a semi final place.

The Bundaberg Tennis International is part of the 2013 Australian Pro Tour, and will continue over the Easter long weekend.
