Bernard Tomic came back from a set down to get the better of Martin Klizan in the first round of the Open 13 in Marseille.

Unseeded Tomic looked ready for an early exit when he lost the opening set to Klizan, seeded 8, but he struck back to take the next two on his way to a 4-6 6-3 7-6(9-7) win.

The win is a welcome upset proving Tomic is in great form playing against higher ranked counterparts. Queensland tennis fans will be eagerly watching the results of his next rounds, playing India’s Somdev Devvarman in round 2 and either Davydenko or third seed Tsonga in the round 3 if he is successful.
