Nominations are now open for the 2012 Queensland Tennis Awards. This provides the opportunity to put a spotlight on one of 2011’s award winners.

In 2011 James Tucker was nominated and won the Excellence in Officiating Award. James was then a finalist in the Tennis Australia Newcombe Medal in December. Since then, James has demonstrated why he was a deserving winner in the Queensland Awards. In 2012, James has officiated at all four Grand Slam event and officiated at his first Olympics in London. He has also officiated at many ATP and WTA tournaments across Europe and America, and of course the Brisbane International in January. At the BI, James was line umpire on the men’s final.

When he is at home, James is also busy helping with the education of new officials. He was the educator for court supervisors and line umpires courses in March and will be an educator for a Level B chair umpires course later this month. James also makes regular appearances officiating at Pro Tour and junior events around the country.

James was a deserving winner in 2011 and his achievement in 2012 would put him in the running to take home the Excellence in Officiating Award again this year.
